How to follow Yahuah: they left their nests and followed him

Faith matters

There are many who will tell you different ideas on how to follow Yahuah. He gave us his Law as a universally true map to live according to his will, that's the basis of following Him. But there are times when He just simply calls people out of the blue.

Being ready to follow him

If you are not ready Yahuah can’t use you. You may be even left out. Just as it happened to this wealthy man.

Yahusha looking at him loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack. Go, sell whatever you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me, taking up the cross.” But his face fell at that saying, and he went away sorrowful, for he was one who had great possession. Yahusha looked around, and said to his disciples, “How difficult it is for those who have riches to enter into God’s Kingdom!

- Mark 10:21-23

But real disciples dropped everything else and followed Yahusha. Right there, right then.

They immediately left their nets and followed him.

- Matthew 4:20

It's not enough to follow Him just a little bit later.

Another of his disciples said to him, “Master, allow me first to go and bury my father.” But Yahusha said to him, “Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their own dead.”

- Matthew 8:21-22

True discipleship is following him

When Yahuah called Abram, he just dropped everything and left. Are you ready to be woken up in the middle of the night by Him and follow His instructions straight away?

Now Yahuah said to Abram, “Leave your country, and your relatives, and your father’s house, and go to the land that I will show you. I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. You will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. All the families of the earth will be blessed through you.”
So Abram went, as Yahuah had told him. Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran. Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother’s son, all their possessions that they had gathered, and the people whom they had acquired in Haran, and they went to go into the land of Canaan. They entered into the land of Canaan.

Genesis 12:1-5

True discipleship is so much missing from the world. True discipleship is about being ready to follow him anytime, anywhere and dropping everything else. We may not know where he is calling us, but the important thing is that we're always ready to go.

However, we are puffed up and proud and we think we know what we're doing. We have everything, and so we became sloppy. Would we drop everything and follow him if he called us right here, right now, knowing not where were are going?

Then Yahusha said to his disciples, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

- Matthew 16:24
